The Pros And Cons Of Year Round Schools

Children benefit from going to year round schools because studies conducted by Duke University shows that kids who go to year round schools remember more of what they are tought than children who go to traditional schools. Kids also spend the exact amount of time as traditional schools. It also decreases child care expenses. There are short breaks that enable the student to learn more instead of learning things over. Studies show traditional schools lack efficiency.

On the other hand though year round schools tend to have higher utility bills so you may have to pay higher education taxes when attending year round. Also children get bothered by not getting a long enough break. Since there is no ground for long summer breaks in the school systems with year round schools, such as youth camps, college students in that area will have less oppurtunities than college students in a traditional school system area for part time jobs in the summer. And parents with two children, one with a child that goes to a traditional school, and one that goes to a year round school parents will have a hard time planning vacations because of the traditional schedule and year round schools schedule. This system also makes teachers pack up all of the things in the classroom at the end of the nine weeks and makes them reset the whole classroom at the time when the nine weeks starts back up.
